Sometimes, there’s more to success than expertise.

Achieving qualifications and expert knowledge requires hard work. But some careers require skills beyond qualifications and knowledge. Many professional roles and environments demand leadership qualities, communication and presentation skills, and a natural capacity for teamwork and collaboration.

The problem? Formal training often neglects these essential skills, leaving capable professionals like you with skills gaps and a lack of confidence needed to close them.

Arden Workshops bridges the gap

Why theatre?

The theatre is a training ground for presence, authority, and clarity.

It helps us develop active listening and improvisation skills – the keys to teamwork, collaboration, and confidently handling the disruptions and curveballs thrown our way. It offers creative safe spaces to tackle real-world challenges present in every workplace and transfers directly to teaching, presenting, and leading.

Don’t just take it from us.

FAQ

Will I have to perform?
No. Arden Workshops aren’t about performing, they’re about using skills learnt in theatre training to propel you in your own work environment, whatever it may be.

What can I expect from an intensive workshop?
Our workshops last around 6 hours. They differ based on their themes, but they’re all designed to gradually ease you into developing and practising the skill. Take our Presentation workshop, for example:  We begin with simple breathing exercises before moving on to collaboration games and eventually working our way up to a mini presentation – by which point, you’ll be more than ready!

What can I expect from a modular program session?
Our sessions are shorter and more regular, each focused on a different theme, such as presence or presenting. You can attend sessions as standalones or attend regularly so that they build into a cohesive program, developing your skills over time – whatever feels right for you.

Who Are We?

We are a collective of theatre practitioners, producers and cultural entrepreneurs dedicated to bringing the power of performance into professional spaces.

Dr Josiane Segar

Co-founder

Josiane is the artistic director of English Theatre Leipzig, as well as an independent theatre-maker. She did her MSc at the University of Oxford, PhD at iDiv and her actor training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Her theater practice centres interdisciplinary collaborations between science, art, and society and she particularly loves devising work that explores themes of community, migration and nature conservation through physical theatre, comedy and ensemble.

Her background in science and the corporate world, paired with her transition into theatre makes her well-equipped to bring the worlds together and apply the transferable skills of one to the other.

Letizia Rivera

Co-founder

Letizia is a theatre practitioner, producer and cultural manager, currently co-running the independent venue Neues Schauspiel Leipzig. Trained as a classicist and drawn to the stage, she has spent years building projects across Italy, Germany and Greece, from interdisciplinary productions to residency programmes and festival formats. Her work sits at the intersection of spoken word, humour and history, and she is passionate about building communities through art. Alongside all of this, she is pursuing a doctorate in Theatre Studies at the University of Leipzig.

Drawing on experience in both scientific research settings and performance-based training, our interdisciplinary approach teaches transferable skills – skills we’ve seen make a real impact in the workplace.
